Following the great success of the Vietnam International Pepper Outlook 2018 (VIPO 2018) in Ho Chi Minh City, the conference of the Vietnam International Pepper Outlook 2022 (VIPO 2022) is a special event that attracts attention of entrepreneurs in the Pepper industry from over the world.
VIPO 2022 looks forward to welcoming and closely connecting more than 200 participants who are farmers, retailers, exporters, importers, ministers, financiers, NGOs, etc involved in the Pepper and Spices Industry. VIPO 2022 will offer opportunities for meeting, communication, discussion, sharing information and cooperation in the pepper business through programs consisting of a main conference and mini-exhibition by top Vietnam pepper exporters. Particularly, a field trip to Dak Lak Province, which is a key pepper region and economic center of Central Highlands in Vietnam, will be organized.
Peppercorn The king of spice has been trading freely for past 100 years. In these past 100 years the world has seen new origins, new varieties, new crop protection chemicals and new applications. As of today Vietnam is the cynosure of world pepper trade owing to its status as the largest grower and processor of black pepper.
In the process of achieving this status several compromises were made, many improvements were delayed and most importantly the fundamentals were left behind. This season we would like to go back to the fundamentals of growing, processing, shipping and consumer behavior in order to reinforce the foundations of the trade.
With several countries aligning their regulations to international standards and by raising the bar on quality key fundamental questions need to be answered-
Listed above are just a few of the relevant questions and there are many more of such questions to be deliberated at the grass root level. This year we aim to bring forward growers in large numbers in order to engage them in an effort that would bring significant improvements in the industry.
Buon Me Thuot City, Dak Lak Province, Viet Nam is the most beautiful and vibrant city worth living of Central Highlands where is immensely attractive because of diversity in terms of cuisine and culture.
It is more wonderful for delegates to experience a suspension bridge with a 500m length after taking a field trip. The bridge is spanned across Serepok river which is shaded by rows of 100-year old Si trees. Moreover, delegates discover the long stilt houses of local ethnic people, viewing artifacts, studying about art of hunting and taming wild elephants; visiting Tomb of the King of Elephant Hunders-Khunjunốp; the ancient stilt house where the Ama Kong King used to live; studying about the esoteric medicine of Ama Kong.
A shimmering and fanciful dinner at Ay No island with specialties of Buon Don such as bamboo-tube rice, grilled chicken, fishes from the Serepok river, etc,. Particularly, delegates enjoying the cultural exchange programs of Gongs in the Central Highlands - The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity recognized by UNESCO, taking pleasure in Rượu Cần (wine drunk out of a jar through pipes) and in harmony with tunes of Central Highlands togetherwith dance of boys and girls of the indigenous peoples.
VIPO 2022 will bring a practical and interesting experience as delegates will take a day out trip to visit some pepper plantations in Dak Lak Province - which accounts for 23% of Vietnam's pepper production. Particularly, November when Dak Lak farmers are busy preparing for the new pepper harvest. Visitors can catch sight of green pepper on the strikes before berries get fully mature. At this time, experts can assess the increase or decrease of pepper productivity and production in comparison with previous years throughout the visited area, and then well prepare business plans and strategies.
